Rugged Lace

We’ve had a crazy late and fabulous summer (finally!), but I still wanted a chance to wear my shiny (well, rugged) new Frye boots!

I paired them with a brand new outfit, and grabbed my new need supply jacket in case I got cold.

Day dresses

I love day dresses. They’re the perfect outfit to throw on when you really don’t want to think about putting together an outfit. First up is my tried and true Bailey44 dress (which started my Bailey44 obsession). I paired it with nude booties and a gold necklace.

Next up is my new day dress from Splendid, paired with my new animal print flats.

Lace and Printed Denim

I made my first foray into printed jeans with this grey pair from Target. Even though I wore a more muted palette (grey and black), I cuffed them up and paired them with sandals since we still have warm weather here in Seattle.

And now I’m off to Vegas to continue my sister’s birthday celebration!!!

Garden Fresh Tomatoes and Gluten Free Pasta

I love summer. Fresh fruits and vegetables, homegrown in the garden, really what could be better? We decided to take advantage of our tomatoes last night, with a deliciously simple pasta and tomato sauce. I tried a new gluten free pasta from a local gluten free bakery, Maninis. It’s available at our local stores and farmer’s markets, and they also have mixes that can be purchased online.

  • 5 small tomatoes
  • about a tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1/4 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • good pinch of salt
  • a small pour of red wine
  • a teaspoon or two of dried oregano
  • dash of balsamic vinegar

First, used a food mill to de-skin and de-seed fresh tomatoes from the garden (alternatively, use canned tomatoes).

Then, heat the oil, soften the onion, sauté the garlic briefly, and add the tomatoes, salt, and red wine.

Let simmer down, add tomato paste and finish with some dried oregano and a dash of balsamic vinegar.

Verdict? The gluten free pasta was absolutely delicious! It definitely tasted like real pasta. The only real difference that Nick noticed was that it started to break down slightly in the colander. I will definitely rely on them in the future when Nick doesn’t want to bother with making homemade pasta.

Leggings and Skulls

I love skulls, and have been eyeing an Alexander McQueen scarf for years. Eventually I may determine to make the splurge, but for now, I found this perfect substitute at Nordstrom BP.

I paired my scarf with a purple tunic top, grey tank layered underneath, leggings, and flats. I accessorized further with a set of silver bracelets.

She’s 21!

We had a pretty fabulous weekend. On Sunday, my little sister Brigitte turned 21!!!! She’s 5 years younger than me, so it was definitely ABOUT DAMN TIME! We had a pretty incredible weekend. Girls dinner and bar hopping starting at midnight on Saturday.

Party on Sunday night. I wore my new Velvet jersey dress. I love this dress, it’s super comfortable, and very easy to dress up and down. I paired it with my Cole Haan heels.
