Mint, Lace, and Stripes

IMG_5385

One of my goals of this blog was to start pushing myself outside of my “fashion comfort zone.” I definitely went there today, and mixed both textures and patterns.

I paired my striped top with grey cropped pants and a mint green cardigan with lace sleeves.

Dressin’ it up style catch-up

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a chance to blog, but luckily I’ve still been snapping a few outfit shots. Here’s a catch-up of my more work-related outfits.

I love sheath dresses. They’re so versatile, and can easily be dressed up or down. I paired this simple black sheath with a leopard print scarf and black heels.

I posted about my yellow bubble necklace here, and I decided to wear my black one to work with a blazer. Ankle pants, heels, and a blazer dress up a simple white tee.

Blazer – Nordstrom BP, Necklace – Ebay, White tee – Target, Ankle pants – J Crew, Heels – Cole Haan

I love pink and was so upset when my hot pink J Crew skirt ripped, that I was lucky to find this option at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Can’t wait to pair it with black tights for fall!

Bubble necklace take 2! This time I dressed up my chambray shirt with a black pencil skirt, heels, and my black bubble necklace.

Chambray shirt – Old Navy, Necklace – Ebay, Skirt – Banana Republic, Heels – Cole Haan

I was ridiculously sad about these shoes. I wore them for one day/night, and the soles started falling apart! Super surprising for Cole Haans! Luckily, they were purchased at Nordstrom, so I was able to return them.

Well, there you have it! 5 work outfits for catch-up!

Robot and a Blazer

IMG_4369

I wore the tan color of my new cropped pants today, and paired them with my navy Zara blazer and a green top. Unfortunately my blisters were still bothering me a bit, so I switched out the heels for my Sperrys.

Finally, I decided the outfit needed a little something, so I added my gold robot necklace.

Grey, White, and Gold

Warmer weather is (slowly) coming to Seattle, and there are some great sales right now. I picked up two pairs of these sateen cropped pants from Banana Republic in tan and grey, for 30% off, and then an additional 30% off the sale price.

Since we went golfing after work on Friday, pairing the grey pair with a simple white top was perfect. I was able to wear leopard flats and a statement necklace to work, and then take off the necklace and put on my golf shoes for golfing.

A Denim Pencil Skirt…

IMG_4223

I brought out my denim pencil skirt for work on Tuesday. Denim skirts are great for casual offices, because you can combine the casual (denim!) with put-together office attire (pencil skirt and heels!). If you’re on the shorter side (like me!), the key for pencil skirts is to make sure that they fit just above the knee (will help elongate your legs), and are fitted but you’re still able to move and breathe.

The skirt is a few years old from Banana Republic, and I paired it with a black skinny belt, James Perse top, and nude heels.

Skirt – Banana Republic (similar), Belt – Limited (here in grey, white, and gold), Top – James Perse from Nordstrom Rack, Heels – Shoemint

Fun to the Maxi

IMG_4213  IMG_4204

Hope everyone had a fabulous 3-day weekend! We kicked it off at work on Friday with a “beach-themed” day for those of us who were in the office and not out enjoying the sunshine. What I wear to the beach is definitely not what I wear to work, so I had to figure out how to fit within the theme, but still stay work appropriate.

I settled on my blue-printed maxi, and wore a black cardigan over the top for work to keep it “office appropriate.”

Black and Green

IMG_4165-Emily-Laptop

I usually wear contacts, but occasionally I like to give my eyes a break and wear my glasses for a day. I had an amusing realization this morning when I realized that it was near impossible to put on my eye make-up without being able to see! I was right up in front of the mirror, looking like a total fool. It’s always key to wear eye make-up when you’re wearing your glasses, because they tend to magnifying everything.

I kept it nice and simple today (fitting into my smaller clothes is so awesome! – a topic for another post), with black dress pants, black heels, a green draped neck top, and a half-sleeve black jersey knit cardigan.

Pants – Jackson Fit from Banana Republic,  Shirt – Nordstrom, Shoes – Cole Haan, Cardigan – Splendid from Nordstrom
