July marks one of my favorite sales, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. It’s infamous in the shopping world, and features fall fashions on sale before the season starts. The official sale starts on July 20th (ends August 5th), but presale is available for Nordstrom cardholders.
This year was the first year that shopping was available online for cardholders before the start of the sale, but I decided to do everything in person. I made an appointment with my personal shopper for this afternoon, sent her a list of everything I liked online, and she also pulled some great stuff for me.
My splurge of the sale was a fabulous black leather jacket. I had selected this jacket online to try on:
It was nice in person, but nothing special. Leslie pulled this incredible Veda leather jacket for me:
Next up, blazers and sweaters. I love a great blazer (I may or may not have an obsession), and this Frenchi blazer was a perfect addition to my blazer collection. The purple is a brownish purple in person, and will be perfect to pair with jeans for work.
Halogen is the Nordstrom house brand, and they make some fabulous items. I picked up this “girlfriend” cardigan in purple nectar, which is more of an aubergine. The fit is fabulous, I may even pick up another color or two. Leslie picked up this sweater for me to try on leggings with, and I ended up loving it. It’s the perfect tunic, super comfortable, but fitted enough to not look bulky.
I hadn’t picked out any jeans to try on, but ended up finding two perfect pairs! I tried on the Hue leggings and didn’t love them, but Leslie pulled these Citizen jeggings. They hold everything in, and work as a perfect black skinny jean but also as leggings with a tunic and boots. She also grabbed these Joe’s skinny ankle jeans. They’re the perfect skinny jean length for my short self!
Finally, I needed a replacement skirt for my pink J Crew skirt which sadly ripped. I’d been eyeing the Halogen seamed pencil skirt for awhile. Leslie recommended the petite length, which was the ideal length. It fit like a glove, and hit just above the knee. Even though it’s not hot pink, it’s the perfect color for a transition into fall.
Finally, shoes and accessories. I tried on a few pairs of heels and boots, but ended up sticking with my tried and true love of Cole Haan. I’ve been looking for a pair of leather driving moccasins for some time, and I loved the print and stitching on these Cole Haan Air Sadies. Note, I did size down one size from my regular size in Cole Haans. Next were a pair of Air Monica wedges. They’re the perfect shoe for work. Low enough of a wedge that they’re easy to walk in, extremely comfortable, and I love the two-tone color scheme.
I eventually want to get a pair of diamond or moissanite studs, but these cubic zirconia studs are the perfect substitute. I was eyeing this leather studded bracelet online, but unfortunately they were sold out in store so I’ll be getting it mailed to me.
This French Connection sheath dress fit like a glove, and could easily be dressed up or down. And these Pedro Garcia booties were incredible. I’m still tempted to pick them up in either black or raisin (I tried on the black).
I almost grabbed the Halogen pencil skirt in two additional colors, bright blue and grey/black colorblock.
This bow pocket cardigan was ridiculously cute. I love the grey and the black, would be perfect paired with jeans or with pencil skirts.
